Sweet Z-Half Guard Submission at the 2008 BJJ World Championships

Back again with another BJJ move that I hit in competition. This was at the 2008 World Championships when I was a Brown Belt (Placed 3rd that year). This was a technique I was hitting a lot in training because of the game I was playing that year and it worked out for me in this match.

In the video you’ll see me hit it in my match followed up by detailed instruction on how I did it. Please comment with any questions or comments.

Hi Jason, thanks for the time you spend making these videos for others to benefit. I was a Tae Kwon Do Black Belt many years ago. When BJJ became popular I got with a Gracie BJJ Black Belt to teach me the high-end of BJJ I was too old at that time to get into the grappling aspects of the sport. We worked on a series of Self Defense moves (from the standing position) incorporating Karate & BJJ moves. (I am in my late 60s.) I wanted something to utilize if someone entered my personnal space with aggressive intent. (For example: I can face someone and as they step into my personal space it takes me 5 seconds to execute a Rear Naked Choke) Anyway, I love BJJ and wish it was the sport of choice when I was younger. Maybe you could start a series of BJJ Self Defense from a standing position. (We developed a program of 10 moves.) Thanks again for your contribution to a great sport.

(Putin is a Martial Arts practicioner, As a result Martial Arts has become very popular….thus, the publisher had my book translated into Russian to be sold there.) Anyway, you can check it out on Amazon. Keeping in mind I was a LOT younger then :>)
